Objective To investigate the clinical efficacy and safety of topical 0.1% tacrolimus ointment in the treatment of adults patient with facial sensitive skin. Methods Total 36 cases were treated with topical 0.1% tacrolimus ointment, twice daily, and the clinical symptom and sign scores were recorded before and after the treatment. A new scale, which including 6 subjective skin conditions (pricking, burning sensation, itching, pain, dry sensation, tightness) and 4 visible skin conditions (erythema, swelling, scaling, dryness) was adopted for assessment at the baseline and succeeding improvement of skin condition. Dermatology life quality index was used to evaluate the impact of sensitive skin on life quality. Meanwhile the adverse events were observed. Results Thirty-two of the 36 cases completed the whole course of treatment. The cure rate was 46.9%(15/32), markedly improvement rate was 40.6%(13/32), moderate improvement rate was 12.5%(4/32), all cases were effective. The most obviously improved conditions were dry sensation, pricking, dryness and scaling. Adverse events caused by local irritation such as burning, sting and pruritus, were common (totally 72.2%), but most of these adverse events were transient and tolerable.
