AbstractA novel adaptive directional ridge prediction tracker is proposed for the instantaneous frequency estima-tion of signals with intersecting components. For this purpose, instantaneous rotating operator is defined to provide direction information at each time and frequency point leading to an accurate prediction of the ridge. The proposed tracker utilizes the time-frequency amplitude and direction information jointly to tune the predicted ridge. The outperformance of the proposed algorithm is demonstrated against its benchmarks using synthetic and real signals.(c) 2023 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
